Riso Africa launched its latest PostScript RIP for the HC5500 high speed ink-jet printer, the IS700C ComColor Express, in September this year. Aimed at spooling large multi-page documents and variable data fast and processing continuously at print speeds of up 120 A4 pages a minute, the IS700C opens up new markets for the HC5500.

A mail house that has recently purchased two IS700Cs to replace their current RIPs has reduced ripping time to 3 minutes for a 5000 record, duplex document.

In another first for Riso, a large manufacturing company has purchased two HC5500 ComColor Express printers for their production departments to produce bar coded pallet labels with variable data from their corporate SAP operating system. Connecting the HCs with IC700C RIPs to SAP was made easy by Riso working closely with their SAP software support engineers. More installations are expected at their other plants as variable barcodes are introduced countrywide.

This application was offered to a large copier company who turned it down as they did not feel they could do make it work!
